For the past eight years, students in the 7th grade at Nichols have raised brown trout. We receiveĀ our eggs in October and raise the trout through the winter, releasing them in a local creek in the spring. This project provides numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary connections, from journal writing and poetry to large scale art projects. This year, our work culminated in a 6' by 4' wood mural using elements of low relief and showcasing work by artists James Prosek and Alberto Rey.
